The Secret History
A movie poster for a movie that doesn’t exist yet. Harnessing the power of AI to generate s visuals, my movie poster design for "The Secret History" combines these images using Photoshop. This captivating book tells the gripping story of six college students studying Greek, whose tenuous bonds and experiments with ancient rituals lead to a tragic death and a subsequent cover-up.

ASSETS & PROCESS
I developed the movie poster using Photoshop and assets created with AI. All three images were generated using Midjourney and in the case of the background expanded in Photoshop using Generative fill. The results from Midjourney were more accurate when the elements were generated through individual prompts and then combined in photoshop. Through several iterations, I specified the style of photography, image dimensions, lighting, clothing, and the age of the characters. The story features a tense scene where the main characters are pursuit in the woods on a chilly evening. I experimented with various prompts in Midjourney until I achieved images that closely matched my vision. In Photoshop, I combined these images and enhanced them with gradients and color balance adjustment layers to create the final poster.
For the title, I selected the Roller Coaster typeface for its classical and scholarly aesthetic, which complements the intellectual and mysterious themes of the work. This typeface effectively conveys
the sophisticated and contemplative atmosphere characteristic of the dark academia genr
I chose the woods as the backdrop for the main characters to emphasize its significance in one of the plot’s pivotal scenes, where the students carry out Henry’s plan to eliminate Bunny. This eerie and ominous setting enhances the tension
and foreboding atmosphere that permeates their dark deed. The dense, shadowy forest not only reflects the characters' internal conflicts and moral ambiguity but also serves as a symbolic representation of their descent into darkness.
