SECRET WINDOW

This project was a redesign of the movie poster for “Secret Window,” a suspense/thriller film that delves into themes of mystery and psychological tension. My goal was to amplify the film’s gripping atmosphere and dramatic intensity. The goal was to creating a poster that not only intrigues but also promises a captivating and high-stakes narrative. I created both veritcal and horzonatal posters as well as a movie mobile site mockup and how the movie might look on a third party website such as a movie theater website.

Central to the design are images of Johnny Depp and John Turturro, whose performances are pivotal to the movie. A deep red hue for the image of Johnny Depp’s character symbolizes his growing paranoia and inner turmoil. Red conveys a sense of urgency and danger, reflecting the psychological breakdown he experiences throughout the film.

For John Turturro’s character, I opted for a green color scheme. This choice is rooted in the idea that Turturro’s character, Shooter, is a manifestation of Depp’s fractured psyche. Green, often associated with envy and decay, underscores the sinister and unsettling nature of Shooter, highlighting the internal conflict within Depp’s character.

To further emphasize the film’s eerie and unsettling progression, I used a crimson color running through the title. This visual element mirrors how disturbing and strange occurrences begin to infiltrate the protagonist’s life, symbolizing the creeping dread that permeates the movie.

PROCESS & ASSETS

I prominently featured images of Johnny Depp and John Turturro, whose performances are central to the movie’s intrigue and whose performances are pivotal to the movie. Depp’s character is depicted with a brooding and intense expression, capturing his descent into paranoia. Turturro’s character is portrayed with an enigmatic and menacing presence, reflecting the sinister and unsettling nature of his role in the film.

Additionally, a gloomy window in the background adds to the atmosphere, suggesting both a literal and metaphorical barrier between reality and the protagonist’s unraveling mind. This design element enhances the sense of isolation and foreboding, drawing viewers into the film’s suspenseful
and mysterious world.

Through the use of typography with prominent angled serif points, masking, channel adjustment layers, and gradient layers I created the unsettling atmosphere
